Hi all,
Mish Mash on Ecclesall Road have stopped selling foie gras!
Hi, This is an extra date for you all!!
There will be a stall in town this Thursday 18th December at 11:00am on
Fargate. If you are free to help out please get in touch. Town is getting
very busy so there's lots of potential people to reach - we have Veggie
Xmas leaflets and various others to distribute.

Mish Mash have stopped selling foie gras. We didn't even have to demo
this one, just a few determined phone calls and they've dropped this
cruel 'delicacy'. Perhaps the little nudge they got from the Soil
Association helped as well. We phoned them to let them know Mish Mash
were selling foie gras and displaying the Soil Association logo. They were
appalled, and confirmed that Mish Mash weren't registered with them so
shouldn't have been using logo anyway. Mish Mash manager, Sam, told us that
foie gras has been removed from the menu today as he fully supports our
stance on the disgusting stuff. And it will
NEVER appear
on the menu again, even at Christmas!
As a result, the demo there this Friday 5th December is cancelled.
Celebrate with some vegan mince pies instead (check out the Co-op bakery
- some nice looking ones in there)

Hi everyone,
December is looking to be very busy, with fur actions and Christmas stalls.
If anyone wants to get involved in any of the actions, get in touch so that
we know numbers, and in case any plans have changed.
Friday 5th December, 7-8.30pm, Mish Mash restaurant, Eccleshall Road - A
new restaurant, Mish Mash are selling Foie Gras, and demos will begin on
Friday. Please come along to keep sheffield Foie Gras free. There will also
be a demo on Monday the 8th if needed.
Saturday 6th December, London - There's a huge climate march in London next
month, as part of a global day of action. It's really important for the
veggie/vegan groups to voice the impact of animal food on the environment.
Various SAF people will be going by coach. If you want to go get in touch,
the coach costs £20 or £10 for concessions.
Wednesday 10th December, 11am -late, Fargate, Sheffield City Centre - There
will be a general animal rights stall in Sheffield. Its always important to
get the message out to members of the public, especially as we are in the
midst of turkey-slaughtering season. Please get in touch or jsut come along
if you can spare any of your time.
Saturday 13th December, Sheffield City Centre, Meetig at 11am at Cruise on
Chapel Walk - FUR DAY OF ACTION!! For those of you coming to the meal
that night it'll also be a way of kicking off the day's festivities. There
are a few places in Sheffield selling fur or are owned by companies which
sell fur elsewhere. Some sell new, some vintage...either way it perpetuates
the fashion of fur and sends the message that wearing a tortured animal's
coat is legitimate and desirable. We're going to start at Cruise and demo
approximately three other shops that day. If you see any other fur in the
mean time, get in touch. Please check out any other vintage shops and 'high
end' women's fashion stores for fur and we'll add them to the day's action.
This includes the Stock Exchange on Junction Road (just off Hunter's Bar
roundabout) - they took it off the shelves when we spoke to them but
haven't made a fur-free commitment. Please drop by and see what they are
selling. The hope of the day of action is that we'll have a big presence
and send a loud message to all the fur peddlers to change their ways. We
have especially written Christmas carols to sing, so bring some christmassy
accessories along if you fancy. :)
Wednesday 17th December, 11am-late, Fargate, Sheffield City Centre - There
will be another general animal rights stall in Sheffield. The closer it
gets to Christmas the busier it is in town. Please come down for any amount
of time you can spare.
Saturday 20th December, 11am-4pm, Sheffield City Centre - Another stall!
Reaching people who are in the compassionate Christmas spirit (hopefully).
Please come along if you can spare any time.
Other things discussed:
* A SAF member will be contacting 'Cow' (A vintage clothing stall who have
provisionally stopped selling fur), to ask if they wil sign a fur free
policy. * SAF members will be looking into whether 'Coast' have
officially stopped selling fur on their website and in their stores, and if
they will sign a fur free policy. * We discussed what should be done
with fur shops decide not to sell. Possible suggestions were using fur for
campaign materials, donating the fur to animal shelters, or giving the fur
topeople who are homeless. If you have any suggestions please get in touch.
* Would people please check 'The Stock Exchange' store on Junction Road for
fur during the week. It is just off Hunters Bar roundabout, and appears to
have stopped selling fur, but we mst be vigilant! * Anyone who wants
to drop leaflets through letterboxes in their local area please get in
touch. We have plenty on having a cruelty free Christmas and other animal
rights issues. * Could people please continue checking health food
stores and restaurants for Shark products. We will write to any places
selling Shark products such as cartiledge pills and shark fin soup.
