Hi,

Thanks to everyone who came to tonight's meeting. It was very busy and there's lots coming up! As usual, get in touch if you want to get involved in anything. It's always important to let us know as plans might change.

Tuesday 4th November, 7:00-8:30pm, Plough Inn, Hathersage - The Plough Inn are selling foie gras and demos will start tomorrow. A car is going and is currently filled up, however if you would like to go get in touch, as there may be people who drop out. If you can make your own way there then please do.

Saturday 8th November,

Fargate, Sheffield city centre, 11:00-3:00pm - There will be a general animal rights stall in Sheffield this weekend. It's always important to get to members of the public with animal rights information. Please come down for any amount of time you can spare.

Sunday 9th November, 12:00pm, Manchester (venue details available on request), meet at Waitrose at 10am - The next NARC (Northern Animal Rights Coalition) meeting will be taking place this Sunday in Manchester. It's a great chance to meet other activists and plan region-wide campaigns. There are currently two cars going and there is one space left. Train and coach links are also good. Get in touch if you'd like to go.

Monday 10th November, Chesterfield (time to be confirmed) - There will be a fur demo in Chesterfield next Monday as a stall on the market is selling real fur. There are currently not many people going so if you can get that way please get in touch.

Saturday 15th November, Owlerton Greyhound Track, Sheffield, 6:30-7:30pm - There'll be another greyhound demo at Owlerton. Bus and tram links are good, get in touch if you need more info.

Sunday 23rd November

, Brinsley Animal Sanctuary (near Nottingham), Meet 10:00am at Waitrose - A car will be oing to Brinsley later this month, get in touch if you want a seat. It's a great place to volunteer with lots of work to do and animals to care for - plus you get great vegan food for lunch!

Saturday 29th November, Fargate, Sheffield city centre, 11:00-4:00pm - There will be another general animal rights stall in Sheffield. The closer it gets to Christmas the busier it is in town. Please come down for any amount of time you can spare.

Monday 1st December, Fat Cat pub, Alma Street, Sheffield, 6:30-9:00pm - Meetings resume at the Fat Cat as of next month. Come down and get involved! Tasty vegan food is available.

Saturday 6th December, London - There's a huge climate march in London next month. It's really important for the veggie/vegan groups to voice the impact of animal food on the environment. Various SAF people will be going, most probably by coach. If you want to go get in touch, hopefully everyone will be able to go down together.

Saturday 13th December, Dandelion & Burdock, Sowerby Bridge - 'tis the season eat boss vegan food! D&B is surely one of the finest restaurants in the counrty, 100% vegan and 100% tasty. They do a Christmas menu for about £20 and is well worth the 1.5 hour trip. We currently have 11 people wanting to go. If you want to go, get on touch and we'll see if we can fit you in a car. The table will be booked in a week so get in touch if you want in!

Other things discussed:

* A SAF member will be looking for literature on palm oil with the possibilty of ordering some for stalls.

* Following on from the Shark Water film showing last Friday, SAF will raise the issue at Sunday's NARC meeting in Manchester. We will start a campaign soon - look out for it. In the mean time look out for any restuarants (particularly Chinese and Japanese) selling shark fin and also keep an eye out on Chinese wholesalers/supermarkets and Chinese healing shops.

* A shop called Lejurra on West Street are selling badger hair brushes. Seems very strange as they claim to be an ethical shop. A letter is being drafted to be sent to them - look out for it in an email and send it on to the shop. A SAF member is looking into the Sheffield-based siversmiths who make the product.

* Two of our friends and devoted acitivists are currently facing prison sentences. Look out for contact details coming soon so you can give them your support.

* A SAF member mentioned it would be prudent for all activists to be familiar with SOCPA - get in touch or see the link for details www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/12/358676.html * The group decided that the season for doing zoo demos in Cleethorpes has passed, so we will resume on the May bank holiday weekend 2009.

* Sunday vegan breakfasts will resume soon at a new venue! Look out for details of dates coming soon. The address will only be disclosed if you reply saying you want to come. The late brekky will follow with banner making etc.

Strength in numbers, SAF
